Bike Accident Lawyer
Collisions between standard automobiles and bicycles can be incredibly catastrophic. Due to the smaller size of the bicycle and the massive weight of most automobiles, the resulting crash between the two leaves the car or truck unscathed while the bike receives the brunt of the force of impact. Bicycles can weigh in as light as 20lbs, the average passenger automobile weighs in around 3,000lbs, easily 150 times heavier than the bike. This number alone portrays why autos fare well in these collisions and bicycles are left mangled and barely identifiable. The lack of any barrier between the bicyclist and the road, automobile, and surroundings makes the injuries cyclists suffer all the more severe.
Due to the serious, extensive nature of injuries that bike accident victims receive, their lives can be forever changed. Some common injuries that bike accident victims incur are:
• Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI)
• Neck and spinal cord injuries
• Fractured limbs
• Extensive scrapes and cuts
• Paralysis
Although wearing proper protective equipment (such as a helmet) may limit the extent of an injury, the sad reality is that some of these bike accidents are so severe that they cause the wrongful death of the cyclist. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), there are approximately 520,000 bicycle accidents each year that cause a victim to need hospital care. Tragically, there were an estimated 575 bicycle accidents that ended fatally in 2007. With this data, it can be calculated that there is someone hospitalized every minute in the United States due to a bicycle accident.
When the driver of a motor vehicle engages in negligent behavior, serious accidents can take place; with these accidents often come serious personal injury. As bicycles are significantly smaller than full-sized cars, they can be harder to spot. This alone attributes to a majority of bike accidents. A majority of collisions between cars and bikes happen simply because the driver of the car fails to see the cyclist in time. Although this is true, it certainly is not a means of defense against a charge of negligent driving. Drivers owe a duty of care to other motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists that they share the road with. When they act negligently, thus breaching their duty, then they can be found to be the causation of or “at fault” in an accident. Some examples of negligent driving that contribute to bike accidents are:
• Failing to yield the right of way
• Illegal turns
• Failure to check blind spot before turning
• Backing out of a driveway without checking for cyclists and pedestrians
• Speeding
• Drunk driving
Statistically, a majority of bike accidents occur in intersections where the driver fails to yield or doesn’t check for a cyclist in a blind spot.
Been in a bike accident? If so, seek the service of an experienced bike accident lawyer as soon as possible to start processing your claim. Oftentimes, victims of bike accidents are left injured for life and must rely on the compensation that a claim of personal injury can provide. It is best to not speak with the insurance company of the motorist involved without a bike accident lawyer present. Insurance companies often try contacting victims to settle quickly at a low figure. Electing to talk with them without professional legal council present can severely limit the extent of the compensation you may be entitled to.

Brain Injury Attorney

Head and brain injuries can be one of the most severe and complicated injuries that a person can sustain. As the brain controls every aspect of the body from motor function to regulating your heart rate and central nervous system, damage that the brain incurs is all too often catastrophic. A person with a brain injury can lose the ability to do even the most common day-to-day tasks that the rest of us take for granted. Things such as putting on shoes, getting into a car, or even voicing some thoughts become a constant struggle or, in some cases, become impossible.
Data
Unintentional injuries, including traumatic brain injuries (TBI), remain the leading cause of death for people ages 1-44. Among non-fatal injuries, falls are the most common cause for those injured to seek medical attention in an Emergency Room across all age groups. Not surprisingly, falls account for more non-fatal TBI than any other source of injury. Concerning fatal TBI, the CDC reports that automobile accidents account for more deaths than any other single contributor.
Brain injuries have many sources. Some common types of accidents or incidents that can result in a TBI are:
• Car Accidents
• Bicycle Accidents
• Sports Injuries
• Slip and Falls
• Assaults
• Struck by or Against an Object
When a person does experience a TBI, immediate medical attention should be sought. TBI is a very serious, catastrophic injury that demands care as soon as possible to avoid further brain damage. Unsure if you or someone you know has experienced a TBI? Here are some classic symptoms to watch for:
• Memory Loss
• Nausea and Vomiting
• Headache
• Change in Personality
• Unconsciousness
• Confusion
• Blurred Vision
• Irritability
• Loss of Motor Function
• Inability to Maintain Balance
Compensation and Representation
If you, or someone you know, has been the victim of a traumatic brain injury as the result of the negligence of someone else, do not hesitate to contact a lawyer right away. TBI cases can be incredibly complex, often involving numerous medical specialists and experts needing to be called in. An experienced brain injury lawyer will have the skills needed to thoroughly document your case and present all technical evidence, if necessary, in court. Maximum compensation is needed for families and victims of TBI. As brain injuries are often accompanied by a lifetime of challenges, this compensation will help alleviate some of the medical expenses and any lost wages that the victim may have had. Compensation can also be recovered for emotional pain and suffering.
Contact an experienced brain injury lawyer today to start documenting and preparing your case. You may be entitled to significant monetary compensation.

Texas personal injury attorneys and wrongful death lawyers are looking into a tragic car accident last week that claimed the lives of five children and injured four children and an adult.

According to reports, the crash appears to have involved only one vehicle, an SUV which suffered a tire blowout. Texas personal injury attorneys and wrongful death lawyers find that car accidents involving tire blowouts are often among the most dangerous, as they occur in full vehicles at high speeds on busy highways.

According to the Department of Public Safety, three adults were traveling with nine children in a GMC Envoy when the driver lost control and the SUV rolled several times.

Investigators are now reporting that the crash was caused by a tire blowout, which can occur as the result of extreme wear, over or under inflation, heat, or tire defects. Such accidents often increase in frequency during heavy travel on hot summer highways.

Unfortunately, none of the children were restrained in safety seats and all nine were ejected as the vehicle flipped and came to a rest on its roof. Two young boys and three young girls were killed as a result.

Three other children and two adults were also injured in the car accident.

Texas Personal Injury attorneys and wrongful death lawyers are closely examining a report released this week from the Texas Highway Patrol after an investigation into the handling of a car accident last January that lead to the death of 11 people on an interstate.

In most cases, a personal injury attorney or wrongful death lawyer helps victims recover from other drivers who may have caused a serious accident, injury, or death.

However, in this case, many were alleging that the negligence of the Texas Highway Patrol in re-opening a stretch of the high-speed interstate during a period of heavy fog may have contributed to a multi-car accident that killed 11 people and injured 46 more.

There were 25 cars, SUVs, and semi-trucks colliding on a stretch of Interstate. While the highway had been closed following a previous minor accident due to heavy smoke and fog from a nearby fire, officials made the decision to re-open it, and the chain reaction crash occurred less than a half-hour later.

An investigation was ordered from both the Texas Highway Patrol and the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles by the Governor following the accident. The final report concludes that the drivers injured or killed that day were responsible for their own actions by continuing to drive at high speeds despite fog warnings.

The report also claims Texas Highway Patrol officers acted reasonably in increasing patrols along the stretch of highway and continuing to monitor conditions.

While the investigation did recommend an update of policies and procedures in such situations and improve its inter-agency communication, it found no criminal intent involved, a decision which experts say will limit liability.

A Texas Personal Injury Attorney and Wrongful Death Lawyer are offering their help in the investigation of a deadly car accident last week that claimed the lives of two teenagers and injured three others.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the accident happened just after 10:00 pm Thursday evening on an Interstate.

A Texas personal injury attorney and wrongful death lawyer are offering their help in the investigation into a tragic car accident that happened last week resulting in the death of two people and injury to several others.

Early reports indicate the accident may have been caused by a teenager who lost control of his car. In Texas, those who cause the injury or death of another party through their actions or negligence are liable for the damages.

According to the Texas Highway Patrol, the accident happened Friday night at around 9:30 in the evening on a state road. Five cars were involved in the accident in total.

According to an initial report from Texas Highway Patrol investigators, a 16-year-old was driving his 1997 BMW when he lost control, sending his vehicle over the grass median and into oncoming traffic.

His BMW first struck a Hyundai Veracruz which was driven by a 71-year-old man. This caused the BMW to spin and strike two more vehicles, one of which crashed again into the 71-year-old’s vehicle.

The BMW driver passed away at the scene of the accident from his injuries. Police also indicated a 91-year-old passed away but did not release details of which vehicle she was traveling in.

A 69-year-old woman and the 71-year-old man who were in the first vehicle struck were taken to the hospital and listed in serious condition. Two teenage female passengers who were riding in the same car were also injured and were treated for minor injuries.

A 22-year-old who was driving one of the second vehicles struck was treated for minor injuries. Drivers of the fourth and fifth cars struck in the accident, fortunately, were not injured.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident but have indicated they do not believe alcohol was a factor.

A family of 4 were driving up the interstate when their van ended up crashing in the highway’s fog and smoke-shrouded darkness.

The husband and his wife and their 15-year-old daughter were among the innocent victims in two deadly pileups along the always busy six-lane interstate.

In all, a total of 10 people were killed in the crash. The accident happened after the Texas Highway Patrol had reopened the interstate after an earlier serious accident. A sergeant and lieutenant determined after about three hours that conditions had cleared enough for drivers, but visibility quickly became murky again.

The younger daughter age 15 survived the crash. According to a car accident attorney and a hospital spokeswoman, she was listed in critical condition.

At least a dozen cars, six tractor-trailers, and a motorhome collided about 3:45 a.m. on this fatal Sunday morning. Some cars were crushed under the bellies of big rigs. Others burst into flames and sent metal shrapnel flying through the air, horrifying witnesses watching the violence along the interstate made calls to 911. Eighteen survivors were hospitalized.

Family members and friends of the family have said they would like to send the family back to Brazil for burials, though it may be cost-prohibitive.

About 100 people at a suburban church gathered to mourn the deaths of their friends. People at the gathering wailed and wept as they addressed them in Portuguese.

Relatives of the family are considering engaging the services of a wrongful death attorney, a car accident attorney as well as a personal injury attorney to help them cope with the tremendous financial and emotional burden that they have suffered.

The child suffered minor injuries, while the mother suffered very serious. The driver was a 50-year-old woman. She accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake when she hit the mother and the child head-on.

She then crashed into the home. The vehicle was fully into the home when the Texas Highway Patrol troopers arrived. The woman was driving a four-door Acura sedan and was not injured.

She was approaching a bus stop with about 15 children standing nearby. Instead of pushing the brake, the woman hit the accelerator, narrowly missing the group of students but slamming into the woman and child, who were standing in front of a house.

“That noise was like a really loud boom,” said a man who was inside the home. “I came outside and saw a car in my front room.”

The woman who was hit by the car was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Her son was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

According to the Police Department, the woman who was crossing the road with the deceased stated that she thought they had plenty of time to cross, however, she stopped while her companion continued to cross the street.

She tells the police that while he was crossing, he was hit and killed immediately after the impact and the driver of the car didn’t stop.

Not long after the impact, the same car that was described returned to the intersection. The woman stated that the man driving got out of the car, stood over the dead man for a short time, and then drove away. She was able to get the license plate number off of the car.

The Police Department arrived at the scene of the accident and later arrested the suspect who was identified as a 39-year-old Hispanic man.

When questioned by the police, he was said to have had “red eyes and the odor of an intoxicating beverage coming from his breath,” according to the police report.

HE was arrested and taken to the Police Department. He is being charged with DUI manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death. He was released from jail after 5:30 Sunday afternoon after posting bond.

This story is still developing.

A wrongful death lawyer and personal injury attorney are offering their help in the investigation of a violent car accident that happened over the weekend claiming the life of one man and injuring three others.

Car accident attorneys are available to help with a variety of legal matters after a car accident, including dealing with insurance companies, arranging medical treatment, and seeking damages from the parties responsible.

A wrongful death lawyer can help those families who have lost a loved one due to the actions of negligence of a person or company. A personal injury attorney can help in seeking damages after you have suffered an injury due to the acts of another.

This accident involved a head-on collision which was caused when one driver traveling at a high rate of speed tried to pass another on a busy road, losing control of his car and striking two others.

According to the Highway Patrol, a 56-year-old man driving east tried to pass another car at a high rate of speed.

He lost control, which sent his vehicle over the median and into the path of oncoming traffic in the westbound lane. There, he struck a Cadillac driven by a 35-year-old man with his wife and 6-year-old child.

The violent collision caused one of the cars to burst into flames. The man in the passing car was killed in the accident as a result of critical injuries. The 35-year-old man, his wife, and his child all suffered serious personal injury and were transported to the hospital.

Another vehicle with two passengers was struck by debris from the collision injuring its’ two occupants, however, they were not taken to the hospital for treatment.

It is not clear whether any of the drivers or passengers were wearing safety belts at the time of the car accident and an investigation into the crash is ongoing.

A new study into the average age of those involved in fatal traffic accidents has uncovered a fact that your wrongful death lawyer and personal injury attorney may have already known: Vehicular wrongful deaths are higher among seniors.

What surprises many, however, is just how many of those over the age of 65 are involved in, or killed by, motor vehicle accidents each year. This also raises the question of what can be done to curb the trend as our senior population grows.

According to a study released last month by TRIP, a non-profit national transportation research group that examines highway safety data, 271 senior citizens suffered a wrongful death in Texas car accidents in 2017. Shocking is that more than 500 of the total amount of accidents that resulted in a fatality involved a driver over the age of 65.

Common blame is that people of advanced age begin to lose their focus as well as the mental and physical capabilities needed for safe driving. Some advocates, however, think the state needs to do more to protect these drivers as our elder population grows.

One reason attributed to the high number of senior-related fatalities is that those who move here for retirement are less used to driving on our busy roadways than they might have been in their home state.

One thing is for sure: The senior driver population is growing. Whether from more people retiring here or the shift in average age from the baby boomer generation, the percentage of drivers is expected to rise from 20% now to 25% by the year 2030.

As a reference, Texas had the highest rate of death by senior drivers relative to their elderly population, with 10.7 deaths per 100,000 seniors. Florida had 9.87 senior deaths per 100,000 people.

California actually has the largest number of drivers over the age of 65, however, they only had a rate of 6.9 deaths per 100,000.

After a tragic car accident, last week claimed the life of three people, a Wrongful Death Lawyer and Car Accident Attorney are offering their help in the investigation of the causes.

As is the case with the majority of car accident deaths, the three wrongful deaths, in this case, were completely avoidable. They actually happened in the aftermath of a minor accident minutes earlier.

A car accident attorney generally helps those who have been injured in a car, truck, SUV, or semi accident. A wrongful death lawyer can also help the family of those lost in these accidents.

According to the Highway Patrol, the matter began when a car containing two young women in their 20s ran into a tree near an intersection just before 4:30 am Sunday morning.

There is no indication of how fast the car was traveling when the crash occurred or how seriously injured the women were as a result, however, authorities classified the wreck as minor.

Soon after the initial accident, a man driving another car stopped to help the women and check on their condition. It was during this exchange that a third driver struck all three people.

One of the women was killed instantly in the second crash. The man and other women were taken to a nearby hospital where they died as well from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the third car was also taken to the hospital for treatment of an injury according to investigators.

Accident experts point out that poor lighting, road conditions, or visibility could have played a part in causing the accident. However, many car accidents that occur in the early hours of the morning involve alcohol.

At this point, police investigators have not stated what caused the accident. Check back for further updates to this story as the investigation continues.
